THE CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD CHILD & YOUTH PROGRAM PRESENTS:

 

YOUTH SYMPOSIUM “FINDING OUR BRAVE"!!! 

The “FINDING OUR BRAVE" YouthSymposium is an exciting day camp designed for the military youth of today. Guard teens will have fun participating in high/low ropes teambuilding challenges, learning outdoor survival skills and discussing military-related topics. Exhilarating activities, military teen workshops, and dynamic motivational trainers will equip military teens to be resilient leaders in their everyday lives.

*Military teen workshops will proclaim the lifestyle of a military kid

*Resilience Trainers will give teens new tools to deal with life’s challenges

*Expand teamwork skills through rope course challenges and outdoor survivor trainings

IMPORTANT EVENT DETAILS:

This event is 100% FREE. Lunch and Dinners are provided.

 

TRANSPORTATION:

OPTION 1: Teens get dropped off at a Charter Bus boarding/return location. The Charter Bus will transport teens to the event location.

OPTION 2: Teens get dropped off/pick uped at the event location

FAQs

*Can anyone participate in the YouthSymposium? No. Only dependents of California National Guard service-members are eligible to attend. Youth must be a dependent of a California National Guard Service-Member in Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS). 

*What is the cost for the symposium? No Cost. The symposium is FREE; dependents must be properly registered through Eventzilla.net

*What is the age requirement? Youth participants must be between the ages of 10-17.5 years old; Volunteers must be 18+ years.

*What happens after my youth is registered? After the Child & Youth Program has processed your youth's registration, parents will be emailed a Parent Packet, which contains necessary forms and information that must be completed for the youth to attend the symposium. If the Parent Packet is not completed & returned to the Child & Youth Program, your youth will NOT be permitted to attend.

*When does registration end? Registration closes when ALL spaces for the symposium are filled, or Monday, July 9, 2018 —whichever comes first. Registration for teen participants & volunteers is currently OPEN. There are limited spaces, so teens and volunteers should register ASAP.

 

What Can/Can't I bring to the event?

Items to bring: Closed-toe shoes, insect repellant spray, sunblock, clothes for warm days and cool nights, required prescribed medications, enthusiasm, a positive attitude to learn and have fun.

Items to leave at home: Electronics (computers, iPads, etc.), weapons, drugs, and illegal items. A complete list of items to bring will be included in the Parent Packet emailed to parents after registration.

Is there a Waitlist? Yes. Registrants will automatically be added to the waitlist when the maximum amount of registrants is reached. You will be contacted via email as space becomes available due to cancellations and drop-outs. The email provided in your registration will be used to contact you, so please ensure the information is up to date.

Will my youth need insect repellant? Yes. Most of the activities will take place outside; and the camp environment is in the wilderness.

Are volunteers accepted? Yes! Volunteers are gladly accepted after completing a favorable background check. All food & transportation is reimbursed after submitting travel voucher upon the symposium’s completion. To be a volunteer, contact Shavon Parker at Shavon.parker.ctr@mail.mil or 559-347-5818.
