Class will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 15th. In order to receive a certificate of completion, you must complete the full 8-hour course.
Mental health problems are more common than heart disease, lung disease and cancer combined. One in five Americans is estimated to have a diagnosable mental health disorder, including 13.7 million children. Of those children with a diagnosable mental health disorder, only a third receive mental health or substance abuse treatment. The more knowledgeable people are about mental disorders, the less stigma will be associated with these common life challenges
Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed for adults who regularly interact with young people. This course introduces information about common youth mental health challenges, reviews typical adolescent development and teaches a 5-step action plan (ALGEE) to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Each participant will receive a Youth Mental Health First Aid manual free of charge.
The class will start on time--please be prompt. Lunch will not be provided, so please plan to bring your own food and drink for the day.
