World Relief Immigrant Legal Services Technical Unit is pleased to offer an intensive, 40 hour immigration law training in conjunction with field office, World Relief-Garden Grove, at The Crossing, Costa Mesa, California. PLEASE READ ALL INFORMATION BELOW, WHICH SETS FORTH WHO QUALIFIES FOR THIS TRAINING.

The training will be conducted using the curriculum of the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC). This course will help to provide the necessary training component for individuals who wish to apply for accreditation from the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA). BIA accreditation allows non-attorneys working at non-profit organizations to practice immigration law.  The course will touch on all areas of immigration law and practice focusing on topics most relevant to those serving and representing low-income immigrants.

Due to the requirements of the accreditation application process, we recommend that only individuals with U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, or other long-term immigration status apply for this training.  If you have questions, please contact Sarah Bankard at sbankard@wr.org.

Additional requirements for applying for Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) recognition and accreditation will be discussed during the training week. Participants who pass the take-home test will receive a certificate of completion from the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC), the authors of the training curriculum. This will help participants in the process of obtaining BIA accreditation.

Location: The training will take place at:

The Crossing

Costa Mesa, CA 92627

Cost: For churches and other non-profits, we are able to offer a tuition cost of only $50, thanks to a grant. You must be able to provide supporting information to show non-profit status. Private attorney/ legal professional tuition is $495.00. All students are still responsible for the cost of books (described below), travel and accomodations.

In order to simplify the registration process, there is not a separate application procedure.  However, the organizers retain the right to exclude from the training anyone whose intent and/or conduct appear to be contrary to the purposes of the training, and/or who interferes with a positive learning environment.  Be prepared to provide additional information or 501(c)(3) designation letter upon request. Exclusion from the training may occur at any time from registration through the end of the training. Appropriate refunds, if applicable, will be made.
