This course is a series of five interactive workshops which run once a month on a Monday evenng from 8.00pm – 9.30pm

They will be held at Bookham Baptist Church

The cost is £75 for the series of 5 workshops.

Helping you to help your child - Being a Parent

In this session we explore the idea of being a ‘good enough’ versus a ‘perfect’ parent.  We look at why it is important we take care of ourselves as parents and think about how we can do this even when we feel pushed for time.  

Wednesday 7th June

Building Your Child’s Self Esteem: Non-directive play – Special Time

In this workshop we look at how to build strong positive relationships either through play or by spending time with our child.  We will consider some specific strategies we can use to help build a child’s self esteem.

 

Tuesday 13th June

Feelings Matter: Supporting your child when emotions run hot!

We will look at why it is important that we support our children when they are feeling upset and how we can do this effectively. We will look at how we can rephrase hurtful statements that children sometimes make so they feel listened to and understood. 

 

Wednesday 21st June

Boundaries without Tears – Yours or Theirs!: Limit Setting and Limited Choices

This session explores how we can set boundaries for our child by communicating in a way that promotes honesty and kindness leaving both parent and child feeling ‘in control’.

 

Wednesday 12th July: 

Resolving Children’s Conflicts Going Beyond ‘Play Nicely’

 

Conflicts are a natural part of children’s lives. In this session we will consider six problem solving steps that parents can use to support children through the conflicts they have conflicts with one another.
