Heather Wheeler is the co-founder of The Krazy Coupon Lady and co-author of the best-selling book, Pick Another Checkout Lane, Honey.
When Heather heard about how her aunt started saving insane amounts of money by strategically using coupons, she was incredulous — and intrigued. Once her local grocery store offered deals she couldn’t resist, she grabbed her best friend, Joanie. In their first week of couponing, they spent $70 — and saved more than $700. She was hooked on couponing from then on.
Heather’s new hobby helped the Wheelers pay off $85,000 of debt while living only on a teacher’s salary. She loved the thrill of figuring out complex couponing transactions and then simplifying what she learned for anyone who would listen.
With the formation of The Krazy Coupon Lady, Heather gets to introduce the couponing experience to millions of women every month. She loves putting energy towards serving deal-minded shoppers, whether that’s creating content, finding ways to reach new users, or by introducing innovative technology to users.
To date, Heather — who considered herself “non-technical” when she started KCL — is most proud of The Krazy Coupon Lady app, which she dubs “the best tool for couponing on the market.”
She still loves teaching couponing classes to beginners and is the go-to instructor for the growing number of employees KCL hires. Heather enjoys being able to make a difference in the lives of local refugees through the KCL Foundation.
In her spare time, Heather would just love a nap, but can probably be found doing mom stuff with her four children and husband in Eagle, Idaho. She relishes time in the mountains, a good concert and a sizable plate of nachos.
Joanie Demer is the co-founder of The Krazy Coupon Lady, and co-author of the best-selling book, Pick Another Checkout Lane, Honey.
Raised in a frugal family, Joanie realized early on that she wanted to find a way to reconcile tight budgets with the ability to buy the things she wanted. When her best friend — The Krazy Coupon Lady Co-founder Heather Wheeler — introduced her to couponing, Joanie found a mentally stimulating way to “hack the system” to be able to afford things her family needed and wanted.
With KCL, Joanie has enjoyed sharing her love of problem-solving with millions of people through her passion for uncovering secret shopping tips and unexpected savings at grocery stores, retail chains, and restaurants. She is a regular money-saving expert on Yahoo!, NBC and The Doctors with additional appearances on Today, Good Morning America and The View.
When she’s not talking about money-saving nuts-and-bolts, she’s building relationships with brands looking to share their products and savings with the millions of women who read The Krazy Coupon Lady each month.
She is proud that KCL is a growing company whose all-female executive team and majority-female staff are reflective of the audience demographics. Additionally, Joanie has a love for the work of the company’s nonprofit wing, The KCL Foundation, which uses money-saving techniques to provide household goods to the local refugee population.
Joanie lives in Boise, Idaho, with her four children and two cats. In the rare event she gets spare time, she enjoys eating tacos, watching musicals and playing the piano.
