IAG GROUP AIRLINES:
THE JOURNEY TO NET ZERO EMISSIONS POST COVID-19
JONATHON COUNSELL FRAeS,
GROUP HEAD OF SUSTAINABILITY, INTERNATIONAL AIRLINES GROUP
Event Abstract
British Airways and the International Airlines Group (IAG) have always taken their impact on the environment seriously and are committed to playing their full part in addressing the critical issue of climate change.
So, when the United Nations scientific body released their report in October 2018 concluding that we needed to avoid temperature increases of no more than 1.5 degrees rather than 2 degrees, the airlines group began assessing how they could meet this new ambition. More importantly, they also considered how they could work with the rest of the global airline industry to continue the important role they have played in combatting climate change.
This webinar will outline the journey IAG and its airlines have taken to achieve the target of Net Zero Emissions by 2050, the progress made since IAG's commitment in October 2019. Outline how they believe they can achieve it and also include an assessment of how the COVID-19 pandemic has and could affect IAG’s and the industry’s commitment to climate change.
