Come join professional photographers Mark Miller and Jamie MacDonald on a 3-day adventure photographing some of Hocking Hills State Park’s most iconic features. 3 days of waterfalls, fall foliage, and much more. Weather permitting, we will have a special astrophotography segment Thursday or Friday night! Every attendee is guaranteed to get the personal level of attention they deserve and require to make the best images possible. This workshop is open to photographers of all skill levels and all ages. Physical requirements are some light to moderate walking, with distances no longer than 1-1/2 miles each way to a feature. All participants on this trip should be in reasonably good physical condition.  We aren't planning any long hikes on this trip, but the uneven terrain and mud can make short hikes seem much harder.  You should be comfortable walking around 2-5 miles per day over multiple locations.

Workshop Dates

  • Thursday, October 15th - Saturday, October 17th. Departure Saturday afternoon

  • October is one of the best months to photograph Hocking Hills Waterfalls, but it is also the best time for rain. While there is the possibility it will be sunny and dry be prepared for wet and sometime cool weather. Temperatures can be moderate to cool and will likely be comfortable for day and night shooting.

  • Post-processing and image critique sessions will be scheduled throughout the workshop to help make the most of your images.

  • The itinerary is kept flexible so we can chase the best weather conditions. However we will be hitting the most well known features, Old Man's Cave, Ash Cave, Conkles Hollow, and Rock House to name a few!

  • With a maximum of 10 students you are ensured plenty of individual attention

  • Welcome reception and introductions, overview and detailed daily schedule

  • 2 full days in the field (Thursday and Friday) and a half day on Saturday

  • Instruction on Composition, Camera settings, working with filters and more
