Who:  Any Secondary Science Teacher

What:  An asynchronous book study - via Canvas - on the book Visible Learning for Science by John Almarode, Douglas Fisher, Nancy Frey and John Hattie

When:  Deadline to register is 9/1/2021.  Book Study will begin on 9/10/21 and end on 11/8/21.

Where:  Canvas...once you have registered, you will recieve an invite to the Canvas course and a copy of the book.  The work is asynchronous - meaning that all work is through Canvas.  The course is divided into 10 modules.  Each module will contain required reading and at least one required task to receive "credit".  If you complete all tasks, you will be eligible to purchase 2.0 CEUs.

Why:  In the best science classes, teachers use various instructional strategies.  But, how do we know which is the most effective for student succes?  This book study will help us identify the right strategies and the right time to help students move through the three phases of learning: surface, deep and transfer.  This book study will help us gain a better understanding of what works best to optimize student learning in our science classrooms.

* Because each module will require various activities: reading, responses to discussion boards, videos, etc., this book study is worth 2.0 CEUs.  Upon the successful completion of the book study, you will recieve information on how to purchase CEUs.
