BS Roberts Room OSU Tulsa, 700, Tulsa, OK, 74106, United States.

The annual United Nations Day Dinner is UNAEO's top annual event, offering an exclusive perspective on our work, priorities, and partnerships, while delivering participants the chance to engage with change-makers in the local community of Tulsa.

On October 24, 1945, the United Nations was created. Every year for the month of October, UNA-USA and its 200+ chapters around the country activate in their communities by hosting events to recognize the signing of the UN Charter.

Since UNA-USA’s founding, we have always believed that nations working together through the UN is the best hope for addressing the major issues we face on a global level. One of these issues is food security.

That's why this year, we’re focusing on nourishing peace.

Nourishing Peace, UNA-USA’s theme for UN Day 2022, aims to address how food security and peace are intertwined on the international scale. In 2022, we have seen firsthand how the scarcity of sufficient and nutritious food drives conflict and how violence threatens food supply chains all across the globe.

This year's honoree is Catholic Charities

UNAEO honors an organization or individual every year that embodies the theme. This year we have chosen Catholic Charities of Eastern Oklahoma. They are the largest provider of food to individuals in need in the state of Oklahoma. Not only does Catholic Charities address food security in the Tulsa and surrounding areas but they address another issue of importance to UNAEO - that of refugee resettlement. Over this past year, Catholic Charities has resettled 801 Afghan refugees in Tulsa helping them with long-term houseing needs, case management and on-going legal help.

This year's UN Day Dinner Speaker is Patricia Apy.

Patricia Apy is an International and Interstate Family Law Attorney. She has directed the international litigation of child custody disputes throughout the world including cases to the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction.  Ms. Apy is a frequent teacher, lecturer and commentator on the complex legal issues arising from international family law.

This event is FREE to members and the public. It is a potluck dinner and we ask that attendees bring something to share.
