Trauma Informed Care
Evidence suggests that the experience of trauma in childhood can lead to poverty in areas of development, health, social wellness, educational outcomes, career opportunities, and behavioral health. Experiences of trauma can impact a person throughout adulthood, setting a pretext for further trauma. This training will define trauma, traumatic stress, and other key terms. This workshop will help participants develop an understanding of how trauma can impact one’s worldview and will function to create an advanced awareness and dialogue about the relevance of trauma in understanding the growth, development, functioning, and behavior in children and adults. This workshop will also discuss vicarious trauma and the importance of taking care of one’s self.
