Omar OT Tom has been known for living a dual life. He is an advertising brand strategist/consultant and a public speaker by day, a podcaster, and MC by night. Throughout his advertising career, he has worked on a wide range of brands globally and locally, including brand such as Nike, GMC, Brach’s Candy Corn, Whole Foods, and FGB. While his podcasting and MCing careers began on radio in late 2010 as a co-host on Dany Neville’s primetime show The Edge, on Radio 1 (104.1FM), which was known for it’s old-school Hip Hop, Reggae/Dancehall, and Homegrown segments, crafting a unique sound for himself. Never one to take a break OT was simultaneously working as an MC in Dubai and San Francisco proving he truly is a third culture kid. Caring about growing the scene and reaching out to likeminded people across the region and even the world, OT was the main driving force behind the Dukkan Show, which is a UAE based talk show and music podcast that is from the perspectives of those described to be 3rd culture kids, who are part of the Middle Eastern pop-cultural space. Drawing parallels from fabled stories of social gatherings at trade hubs and weekend markets, the show’s four hosts OT, Reem, Toofless and Jibberish, find that a similar experience is had when neighborhood friends group outside of their local grocery store to just hang out and talk for a while. In essence, Dukkan is the simple joy of companionship and spirited discussion.
