THE X-35 VS X-32: THE F-35 COMPETITIVE CONCEPT DEMO

REAR ADMIRAL SIMON HENLEY,
PRESIDENT, ROYAL AERONAUTICAL SOCIETY

PROGRAMME INTRO

As military fighter-jet programmes become longer and less frequent, how best to approach the development of new aircraft, be they manned or otherwise, is one of the most important and most challenging issues for all involved in bringing aircraft to service.

Competitive Concept Demonstrators are one approach. It has been used on a number of programmes including the development of the multi-role multi-nation F-35 development and the early 21st Century is witness to the on-going evolution of the F-35A, F-35B and F-35C from the winner of the X-32 (Boeing) vs X-35 (Lockheed Martin) competition, both aircraft first flying in 2000.

In this kick-of lecture of the 2018/19 season, Real Admiral Simon Henley will speak on the competition and the Concept Demonstration phase of the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) programme.

NOTE FOR REGISTRATION

Thanks for registering your attendance via our Eventzilla site.

We have streamlined our event registration process by introducing online booking platform as an alternative to email and telephone registeration for our lectures/events, as well as developing a way of tracking numbers on any lectures/events that may be oversubscribed.

When you book, please select the relevant ticket option, and the number of tickets you would like. The tickets will be automatically emailed to you, as there is currently no option for us to produce a ticket at the door.

The application asks for both registration and attendee details - even if there is only one person on the booking, you must fill in all fields. If you are reserving more than one ticket please ensure you enter the name of all attendees so they are reflected on the attendee list.

If there is any problem incurred during the registration process, or if there's anything we can improve on this tool, please contact the Branch Secretary –
