THE WISDOM OF MODERN MONASTICISM

Friday, April 22 – Sunday, April 24, 2022

In this workshop we will reflect together on several different stands of modern Benedictine spirituality. These will include: liturgical contemplation, exemplified by Abbot Prosper Gueranger and the Solsmes Congregation; and the revival of Benedictine missionary evangelization, begun by Abbot Boniface Wimmer and the American Cassinese Congregations and continued by Belgian Abbot Theodore Neve, Abbot Founder of Valyermo.

Fr. Luke Dysinger has been a monk of Valyermo since 1976. He is a priest and a physician who writes and teaches in the fields of mystical theology and biomedical ethics. He received a D.Phil. in patristics at Oxford University and is professor of church history and moral theology at St. John's Seminary in Camarillo, CA.
