UrbanArts presents the ‘ThrowDown’ Dance Convention – a 1-day annual urban dance platform aimed at promoting the importance of accessible and inclusive dance programs, highlighting the importance of physical literacy, offering new and exciting opportunities for growth and recognition to young performers, and encouraging community engagement through the vehicle of creative movement. This year, our focus is 'Healthy Living through Dance’. Through our dance showcase & competition, workshops & masterclasses, artist chats, and awards, ThrowDown promotes the development of artistic and life skills for youth in a supportive community atmosphere. Because of the generous contributions from key partners and supporters, we are able to offer this dynamic dance platform 100% FREE for participants and attendees to experience.

MasterClass Workshop Series
The Workshop Series provides the perfect opportunity to learn from and share experiences with leading dance artists from the Greater Toronto Area. Workshops start at 10:30am. Be sure to register if you would like to attend our FREE workshops.
Expo Marketplace The lobby will be activated with amazing vendors and an amazing DJ activation. Exhibition starts at 11am.
ThrowDown Artist Chats
The Artist Chats will feature casual talks from local professional dancers and artists centered on the creative process behind the artist’s work. Artists will also share their perspective on healthy living and offer tricks and tools they use to fuel the body for increased energy demands. Artist Chats will be live for anyone to view in the Upper Gallery as well as being streamed on our "ThrowDown" IGTV Channel.
Community Dance Competition & Showcase
Community Dance Competition & Showcase is an opportunity for school & community dance programs, troupes, and local dance initiatives across the city to come together to showcase in a main event that includes expert judges, hosts, prizes and loads of fun! The Winner takes home $1000!!
