About the retreat:

The season of Advent sneaks up on us. Suddenly, the time to prepare to receive our Saviour once again is upon us. We often scramble, especially as leaders, to make Advent a special event for others but find ourselves unprepared.

Come and join us for an evening retreat as we prepare for the season of Advent. We will experience the songs of Mary, Zechariah and others, spend some time in quiet reflection and sing some songs to prepare ourselves personally for our Saviour’s birth.

About Sarah Patterson:

Born in England, Sarah came to Canada at the age of four, the same year she became a Christian.  Her parents both taught at universities in Halifax, Nova Scotia where Sarah grew up. She received a BA in English from Dalhousie University and worked with IVCF where she met Rob, whom she married in 1987.

Sarah and Rob pastored in two churches before going to Kenya with Canadian Baptist Ministries in 1990.  They worked with both of CBM’s partner churches in Kenya for almost ten years before returning to Canada in 2000.  In 2001 Sarah began a degree in Journalism at Ryerson University and, after graduating, worked for SIM (Serving In Mission) in communications.

While at SIM Sarah discovered her true passion about stories was seeing God in them and walking with people through them, not necessarily writing about them. She then discovered the discipline and ministry of spiritual direction and graduated with her MTS from Tyndale in 2011 and her DMin in 2014.

Sarah loves God, her husband, her nieces, nephew, and six godsons, as well as long walks, chocolate, BBC miniseries and her iPad.
