An Analysis of Albert Camus’ “The Guest”

Albert Camus' short story, “The Guest” was published in 1957 as part of his collection or works entitled “Exile and the Kingdom”. In this work, we also see Camus' views on existentialism and absurdism. An analysis of Albert Camus’ “The Guest” explores the plot, characters, and themes seen in the story.

Some biographical information on Albert Camus can provide an interesting introduction to an analysis of Albert Camus’ “The Guest”, as his experiences during the height of the Algerian crisis had a significant impact on his personal philosophy.  This should be noted in an analysis of Albert Camus’ “The Guest”. An analysis of Albert Camus’ “The Guest” should summarize the story's plot, noting that it is about a relationship between a schoolteacher and a prisoner during the colonial conflict in Algeria. An analysis of the major characters namely Daru; the French schoolteacher, Balducci; the policeman, and the Arab prisoner should also be provided in an analysis of Albert Camus’ “The Guest”. Lastly, the story's themes about responsibility, choice, accountability, freedom, the value of human life, and neutrality should be analyzed in an analysis of Albert Camus’ “The Guest” as well.

By reading examples of other analyses of literary works such as an analysis of “The Red Convertible”, an analysis of “The Secret Lion” and an analysis of “The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World” you can learn more about the different literary elements that should be explored in an analysis, which can then help you write a more informative analysis of Albert Camus’ “The Guest”. Furthermore, you'll also write a better essay and enhance your understanding of the story if you first make sure to locate reliable sources on Albert Camus’ “The Guest” like "buy college research papers" as well as read some examples of analyses of Albert Camus’ “The Guest”.
