Friends Meeting House, 173-177 Euston Rd, London, London, NW1 2BJ, United Kingdom.

There are some profound and far-reaching changes to the expectations in early years from September 2021. Subject leaders must develop an understanding of how their subject looks in early years and what progression from the point of entry into school will look like.

This course will enable you to consider your own progression documents, how teaching and learning looks in each stage and what changes might need to be in place from September. We will also look at some of the key concepts mentioned in the aims of the National Curriculum and how they may feed back into early years. This will enable you to support early years teachers to lay the foundations for some of those key concepts as children move through the school.

By the end of the course you will:

  • Have a better understanding of the early learning goals in your subject
  • Start to consider the implications for your progression mapping in your school
  • Have a better understanding of pedagogy in early years in your subject and how to adequately monitor your subject in early years
  • Start to make connections between the aims of the national curriculum and the early years foundation stage.
