Within a short time of its founding more than 20 years ago, the Philharmonia Quartet secured its reputation as a standard-setting chamber ensemble, esteemed throughout the world. Made up exclusively of members of the Berlin Philharmonic, the ensemble performs a varied and innovative repertoire now encompassing more than one hundred works. The Quartet thrives on an inexhaustible artistic expression of the classics-including those of the Twentieth Century- as well as on its commitment to less frequently heard string quartets, by composers such as Hindemith, Reger, Schulhoff, and Szymanowski.

The Philharmonia Quartet’s  recordings are consistently well received, and the recent release of Britten’s Quartets Nos. 2 & 3 won the Echo Klassik Award. The Quartet has performed the complete cycle of string quartets of both Beethoven and Shostakovich. The current members are Daniel Stabrawa and Christian Stadelmann, violins, Neithard Resa, viola, and Dietmar Schwalke, cello.

The MCMS concerts are enjoyed in an intimate setting and thus allow you to become more immersed in the music. Each event typically lasts about 2 hours.
