Everyone is invited to APALI’s virtual Gala this year! Join us for a fireside chat with 2020 Civic Leadership Award Honoree Maeley Tom and exciting updates about APALI’s civic leadership work.

Affectionately called California’s “Godmother of Asian American politics”, Maeley Tom broke many glass-ceilings and contributed greatly to developing a political pipeline for the AAPI community.  Maeley’s accomplishments include being the Chief Administrative Officer of the California Assembly and Founding Director of the Senate Office of Asian-Pacific Affairs. Maeley also co-founded the Capital Asian Legislative Staff Caucus, the Capital Academy Program, and the Asian Youth Leadership Program. Maeley has been one of the most influential political consultants nationally and a political columnist. She never tires of mentoring AAPI seeking to serve in public service at the local, state and national levels.  In a recently published memoir, I’m Not Who You Think I am: An Asian American Woman’s Political Journey, Maeley shares fascinating political insider stories and valuable personal lessons.
