TAASA is excited to announce the Sustaining Change 2019: Primary Prevention Institute. The Institute will run from Wednesday, July 17, 2019 – Friday, July 19, 2019 and be hosted at the Courtyard Austin Downtown/Convention Center. The Institute provides training on strategies and activities prevention workers can use to develop, implement, and evaluate effective primary prevention programming in Texas. In order to meet the wide variety of needs and learning styles of attendees, the Institute agenda incorporates multiple educational approaches including:

  • Interactive workshop sessions
  • Opportunities for prevention workers to brainstorm ways to put new strategies into practice
  • Time to share knowledge, experience, resources, and challenges with fellow prevention workers
  • Activities dedicated to promoting self-care

MICRO-SKILLS

TAASA’s Prevention Team is excited to invite attendees to submit proposals for micro-skills sessions at the Institute. We think that each of you are wicked smart, and we continue to be impressed with the creative work happening across Texas!

Micro-Skills sessions will only last 30 minutes and will provide facilitators with an opportunity to share a very specific and focused skill, strategy, or activity related to prevention work with their peers. Ideally, these sessions will involve no more than 20 minutes of instruction and save at least 10 minutes for attendees to practice the skill, strategy, or activity being shared. Please consider submitting a micro-skill proposal – we know you have amazing activities and strategies to share! We are excited to learn from you!

To submit a micro-skills session proposal, click here. Micro-skill proposals are due by 5 PM (CST) on Friday, June 7, 2019.
