11:30am to 12:15pm    How do we create more inclusive and effective environments and experiences for children with disabilities? Washington is 46^th in the country in serving children in the ‘least restrictive environment’.  How do we improve our service to this vulnerable and underserved population? Transitional K is a small but quickly growing element of our early learning landscape.  In this session we will discuss how to ensure that families have access to the high quality services they need, how negative impacts on the rest of the early learning system can be reduced or mitigated, and what our community might want to propose to lawmakers and/or DCYF/OSPI in 2022. Facilitating children’s healthy social and emotional development, partnering with parents/caregivers, and supporting the early learning workforce have always been a top priority for Head Start and ECEAP in Washington.  Now it is even more important! In this session you will learn about two statewide, systemic approaches that are in development and early implementation in Washington:  building a stronger system of supports for Infant Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation and the Pyramid Model.  Time will be provided for you to share what is working in your programs and to provide your thoughts on how these approaches can be most helpful to your staff, and the children and families you serve.
