Freestyle is movement, heeling and tricks choreographed to music. Rally is an “obstacle course” of signs with specific required exercises. Both require obedience and teamwork. Many movements and training methods are the same for both, thus cross training makes sense. This seminar will be hands on with your dog. We will cover topics such as trick training, transitional movement, choreography and rhythmic heeling, change of pace, competing and more. It will be an interesting day of fun and learning for you and your dog!
Rex is a member of the World Canine Freestyle Organization and has competed in freestyle for over 6 year with her Australian Kelpie, Ziva. In 2011, Rex and Ziva finished third in WCFO Nationals. In the 2016 WCFO Nationals, they placed in both Heel Work-to-Music and Musical Freestyle. They have studied under National Champions, including Ray Underwood.
Ziva and Rex have competed in every AKC National Championship since its inception in 2013. Placing 12th in 2013 and 15th in 2015 and were ranked 7th in Rally by Front and Finish in 2014. In 2013, Ziva was the “Top All American” at the AKC Obedience Classic.
