Launching the 10th Annual DTCB as a Virtual Event
Dancewave Through College & Beyond (DTCB) is a unique nationwide event, traditionally held on an NYC campus with close to 1000 attendees annually. DTCB enables meaningful connections between motivated students and renowned faculty from colleges across the country, and helps students navigate the college admissions process. For the first time ever, DTCB will take place as a fully virtual event. Visit our website at dancewave.org/dtcb for an additional overview about our virtual event.
Student Registration Details
DTCB registration grants event access for one student and one parent/guardian (also known as the Primary Contact) to access the 2-weekend live virtual event and related information through the event website. Only 1 Package may be chosen per student during checkout.
New DTCB Event Website
Going live July 6th at 10:00am EDT, Dancewave will launch a separate event website especially for DTCB: dtcb.dancewave.org.
After July 6th, registered student attendees and their parent/guardian will receive a follow-up email from Dancewave (within 2-3 business days of registering) that contains a confidential password granting access to the DTCB Student Portal, an exclusive page on the event website which houses all of the following event information:
• Virtual College Booths database
• Zoom links for all College Fair and Peer-to-Peer Panels
• Zoom links for all educational panels, workshops and Master Classes
• Sponsorship & Digital Event Bag with exclusive coupons and promotional offers
DTCB live events and information are available exclusively for registered DTCB student and parent/guardian attendees via password-protected Zoom panels and website pages. For the safety and security of all attendees, all registered students and parent/guardians agree to keep website and Zoom passwords and links private
After the initial launch of the new DTCB website on July 6th, new colleges, universities and non-degree programs are being added to the Virtual College Booths database each week through August 31, 2020.
College Fair Zoom Panels: Technology Requirements
Participation in DTCB Virtual College Fair Panels will require access to a computer, laptop or smartphone with a functioning camera, microphone and speaker. All DTCB live panels/classes/workshops, including College Fairs, Peer-to-Peer, Financial Aid, etc. will take place via Dancewave’s Zoom account. To ensure the highest possible security during our large-scale virtual event, please take a moment now to ensure that your device is compatible with Zoom Version 5.0.
A tentative schedule of Zoom College Fair Panels, educational workshops/panels will be available on the Student Portal once the website goes live on July 6th. The finalized schedule (posted to the Student Portal in September) will include assigned dates and times for each school's College Fair and Peer-to-Peer Panel over the course of the 2 event weekends. Students may refer to the schedule and determine their own DTCB College Fair experience based on when their preferred schools and topics of interest will be LIVE on Zoom.
Virtual Audition Registration & Requirements
Participation in DTCB Virtual Auditions is limited to up to 200 graduating high school senior students who are eligible to enter into undergraduate college starting in Fall 2021. To be considered for admissions and scholarship opportunities through DTCB Virtual Auditions, students must complete all Audition Video requirements as outlined below. Auditionees will be reviewed and considered by DTCB Audition Panelists from up to 60 dance degree programs from across the country.
Graduating high school seniors seeking to participate in DTCB Virtual Auditions must first complete their event registration by choosing either the Fair & Audition Package or Fair & Audition Package Plus at checkout. Audition applicants will be charged only for the $15 "Senior Profile" portion of their event cost upfront, with the remaining $10 or $30 balance due (Audition Package - $25 total +fees or Audition Package Plus - $45 total +fees) after they have completed and uploaded their Audition Video assignments.
Auditionee status will remain pending until students submit Audition Video assignments (emailed to Primary Contact beginning in August). Remaining $10 or $30 balance is due at the time of Audition Materials submission (via separate link).
Starting August 1st, Dancewave will follow up with registered Auditionees and send them Ballet and Modern/Improv Audition Video assignments, along with detailed instructions for how to successfully execute, record, upload and submit. To ensure that all Seniors feel fully self-expressed, Auditionees have the option to submit a third Audition Video in a dance style of their choice (though Ballet and Modern videos are still required). Auditionees will have 2 weeks after receiving their Audition Video Assignment letter to submit their audition materials. Please note, if the pending Auditionee has not submitted their videos and paid their balance after the 2-week deadline, Dancewave will no longer be able to guarantee their spot in the DTCB 2020 Virtual Auditions.
Targeted School Leads
In September, Dancewave will send all registered students a complete list of registered schools and non-degree programs to DTCB student attendees. Registered students will be able to specify from which schools they would like to receive more information. Dancewave will notify your selected schools about your interest, granting schools with the option to follow up with you and your Primary Contact parent/guardian. Please note: DTCB student attendee information will never be made publicly available. Schools will review select student data on a password-protected database.
Sponsorship & Digital Event Bag
Starting in September, registered DTCB attendees will receive exclusive access to special coupon codes and promotional offers from commercial brands through the DTCB Sponsorship & Digital Event Bag, a “virtual goodie bag” accessible through the Student Portal. In September, registered students will be able to choose their favorites from a list of sponsorship brands who have donated funds to support DTCB 2020 event costs. Students will be eligible to win exclusive prizes and giveaways from those brands that they have expressed interest in (subject to the availability of prize-giving sponsors). After they sign up for a sponsorship giveaway, students have the option to continue receiving discounts and promotions from sponsors via email only.
Dancing together outside of the DTCB Auditions is an important part of our event. In September, students will have the opportunity to register for live virtual Zoom Master Classes, taking place on Fridays October 16 and 23. Both Master Classes are included automatically for registered seniors with the Fair and Audition Package Plus, and available for purchase as an add-on once class announcements go live this Fall.
Pop-up Panels & more
In the several weeks leading up to DTCB, Dancewave will announce special DTCB pop-up panels and other valuable educational workshop opportunities you may attend to be informed about current issues in dance and dance education. Be sure to add DTCB@dancewave.org to your contacts list and keep an eye out in your Promotions tab of your inbox for announcements throughout the summer.
Registered DTCB student attendees can attend Dancewave's weekly Adult Online Classes with a special offer at $8/per class with promo code 2OFF at checkout. Offer valid for dancers ages 16-up through July 31, 2020. Visit dancewave.org/adult-classes for our weekly schedule.
