What is this fundraiser for?
A security camera system for all entrances to the parish/school as well as classroom resources.
What is A Night at the Races?
An audience-participation event where actual races are shown to the audience on a TV screen, to recreate the atmosphere of being at the race track. The race will consist of 10 races with 10 horses in each race.
Here is a brief overview of how the races work:
1. Before the race starts you will place your bet(s) with your “funny money,” on which horse you think will win the race. You can bet on as many horses you want for the race. Keep in mind, there is a prize for 1st place, 2nd place and the “show” horse. You have 3 chances to win!
2. There will be labeled containers in the event space representing each of the 10 horses in the race. You will take your “funny money” (ensure your name is legibly written on the back of the money) and put in in the container of the horse you think will win. The more money you put in, the better your chances are of winning!
3. Jenny Matthews will give you ample time to place your bets and then she will start the race. Bets will no longer be accepted once the race starts.
4. The audience will watch the race on the screen and cheer for their horse(s) to win!
5. Based on which horse wins the race, Jenny will pull a name from the coordinating container...this person will win the first place prize! She will then move to the container for the 2nd place horse...this person will win the second place prize! The same process will happen for the show horse...this person will win the 3rd place price!
What is Funny Money?
Funny money is what all bets are placed with. There will be a minimum bet of $10. Funny Money will be sold in denominations of $10. For every $10 in real money, you will receive $20 in Funny Money!
Exchange $100 in real money for $200 in Funny Money!
Can I name a horse?
Absolutely! You can name a horse AND a jockey for $20! Please email jennmirabile@gmail.com if you are interested. Additional information will be sent home in your students backpack and we will have some classroom competitions to name the horses! Start thinking of some creative names!
Why is the price $20? We are celebrating the 20th Anniversary of St. Andrew the Apostle School this year!
Will there be alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages? Yes! We have options of an unlimited alcoholic beverage wristband for $20 or drink tickets for $5 each. Non alcoholic beverages are included in your entry fee!
