Please consider making a donation to enable Argonne Elementary School’s first ever Wolfbots Robotics Team (Team #27193) to participate in the FIRST Lego robotics competition. Our first competition is on November 20th. We will showcase our 4th graders as future science & technology innovators. While we have made amazing strides in the first 2 ½ months since launching our efforts, $1500 is urgently needed now to help take our first year’s attempt to completion.

Our team is led by Jennifer Partika, a dedicated and inspiring Argonne 4th/5th grade teacher volunteering her time, as well as volunteer parent engineers and mentors. Our team is comprised of over fifty 4th grade students who participate in a new, free, after-school engineering club, open to all interested students. Many of our students ordinarily would not have access to this kind of hands-on, unique program.

Through the robotics competition, tomorrow’s innovators practice imaginative thinking and teamwork. Kids research a real-world problem and are challenged to develop a solution applying science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) concepts.

Our Argonne Wolfbots Robotics team is one of only two San Francisco public elementary schools participating in the FIRST Lego competition. Most public schools typically do not have the volunteers and financial resources that would make it possible for them to participate. This is why we are asking for your help.

Argonne’s engineering club represents public school students from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. We also have boys and girls participating in equal measure. We believe all kids should have access to this kind of opportunity.

We were recently awarded a $500 grant from PG&E. This, along with small donations from parents and our school, and the already countless volunteer hours have made it possible to launch our program. But, we require critical additional funds now to take our Robotics team to the finish. We also hope our FIRST Lego Robotics team & engineering club will become the flagship program of Argonne’s Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, & Math (STEAM) initiative.

Your donation would make a lasting, positive difference in the lives of kids attending our public school in San Francisco.

Thank you for your consideration. Please support our future science & technology innovators!
