SPIRITUALITY AND ART

Friday, December 17, 2021- Sunday, December 19, 2021

This workshop is an introductory investiga-tion of how one discovers a theology or spir-ituality in a work of art. Some basic tools for interpretation will be offered. How the arts explore and express theological meaning both implicitly and explicitly? What does a deeper appreciation of art in all its form offer to a fallen world? How does art indicate the presence of an incarnate redeemer? How can an experience of art deepen one’s own personal spirituality and theology? Every creation has an ability to build up or to tear down the dimensions of God in our lives, thus it is important to understand how we are influenced in our interior lives by what we allow, or do not allow, to nourish us. The participant is encouraged to bring their own laptop or tablet to the retreat for better viewing of various art works.
