Storytelling can make your performance more dynamic. Discover new ways to inspire narrative and convey that message through movement and reveals. We will discuss how to build a character and find their motivation and how stories are built. Skirt is a classically trained dancer who also wrote and performed sketch comedy for 15 years. Bring a notebook.
"Stage Dynamics and Drama in Dance (Developing Stage Presence)" This workshop encompasses solid techniques that will immediately change the way you perform. Control your space, take your audience on a journey and be more effective in expressing your dance. Learn about attention focus, layers, dancing to tempo - timing- harmonics and expressions.
Learn how to safely and properly eat fire. We will take this slowly and teach every step so that you are super comfortable and secure. For those that have experience fire eating, we will give instruction on how to take it to the next level, such as using fuel to transfer flame on your own flesh and between your torch and your skin. Also learn transfers and other tricks using your fuel's vapor.
From the bedazzled looks of the best burlesque acts, to the eccentric stage acts you see in your favorite Cirque performances: makeup is all about portraying the character you bring to life on stage. Bring your makeup and brushes and learn how to bring your inner ideas to forefront of your fingertips! Learn techniques to set you up for success no matter what your level or comfort zone is; and leave with a completed makeup look. This class will come with a complimentary set of false eyelashes.
This class will discuss all of the things you will need to become a performer: what you need to prepare yourself for gigs, how to choose the right costuming, insurance, pricing, and more. Have questions? Feel free to ask them and we will answer to the best of our ability!
If you find yourself struggling with figuring out what to do with your facial expressions and how to deal with your hands during an act, this workshop will offer techniques to putting the finishing touches on your already wonderful act. We learn how to use the hand and face to tell the audience what we want them to know.
Learn original choreography by Sarah Hahn to the song Tincture. This dynamic choreography will be broken down and explained in detail.
The Shadow of the Self contains so much; our inner critic, our fears, and our darkest desires. In this class we will reflect on reframing our hidden flaws, silencing our inner critic, and draw inspiration and creative energy from the dark places in our selves.
Yes, we all share such a love for this hard metal ring but what about above the lyra? In this workshop, we will take it to the spansets, working in, on and around them, creating shapes and finding new pathways.
