Your brand is about who you are now and how you want to be viewed by your peers, colleagues, those you supervise and your community. Much like a commercial brand, a personal leadership brand establishes your identity and communicates your unique value to others. A leadership brand impacts how you behave, react, interact with others, and make decisions, influencing how effective you are in the workplace. In this workshop we will explore your current leadership brand – and yes, you do have a brand whether you know it or not – and identify the desired brand you wish to portray in your daily interactions and work with others. We will work through a process that explores your strengths, the impact you make in your organization and community, and behaviors that support your identified brand. Much like a well-designed commercial brand increases purchasing potential, your leadership brand will enhance your career opportunities.

One of the challenges for any leader is acclimating new people to the group and creating a sense of common purpose. While employee manuals and formal orientation sessions can be helpful in accomplishing this, the casual stories that we share about our staff, our department, and our organization will often have a greater impact on shaping and changing attitudes and behavior. This interactive workshop focuses on how we can use the power of narratives to help our team members grasp the important lessons of who we are and why we do what we do.
Are you looking for ways to motivate your employees, promote creativity, foster better communication, break barriers, or develop better problem-solving skills? This interactive breakout session will offer ways for you to introduce topics, facilitate introductions, energize your team, and review concepts through incorporation of group activities, icebreakers, and team-building exercises.

New projects and programs often need seed money and ongoing funding to be sustained. Partnering with a community foundation to create an endowed fund can be the key to financing new endeavors that make a community more vibrant, responsive and compassionate. In this session you will learn about ways that people and organizations in the Greater Olean region are already making a difference with a fund at a community foundation. The session will cover the mechanics of creating and building an endowment as well as illustrating options for setting up an organizational structure, procedures and policies to be sustainable and fair.

For many decades, the predominant approach to leadership was one that sought to mitigate, and even eliminate, the effects of change. The goal was to establish effective processes and policies in order to "keep a complicated system of people and technology running smoothly" (John Kotter). This approach worked when the economy was dominated by roles that were somewhat routine and systematic; however, in today's economy, where the pace of change increases exponentially, we are seeking solutions to problems that have never been encountered before. Leaders no longer have the luxury to try to mitigate or halt the forces of change; rather, leaders must proactively harness the forces of change and use them to the organization's collective advantage. This can only be accomplished by fostering a culture of creativity within the organization--a key outcome of authentic Servant-Leadership. This session will explore the role creativity plays in harnessing and directing the forces of change. The relationship between Servant-Leadership and creativity will be described, and participants will be introduced to practical tools for fostering innovation and creativity in their organizations.
