Human Trafficking – The Slave Across the Street
Presenter: Theresa Flores
Jan. 31, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Ohio University Zanesville Auditorium

Join us to learn about an alarming issue that is happening across our country from an individual that lived it.

Survivor and Author Theresa Flores travels the U.S. sharing her story of trafficking and being a sex slave while living in an upper-middle class suburb of Detroit, Michigan. Theresa’s struggle resulted in 2013 legislation in the state of Michigan entitled the Theresa Flores Act. Flores is a licensed social worker and the founder of Save Our Adolescents from Prostitution (S.O.A.P.), which gives motels and hotels bars of soap labeled with phone numbers that victims can call for help. She speaks all over the country and has been a guest on numerous television shows.

She is the author of The Slave Across the Street: The True Story of How an American Teen Survived the World of Human Trafficking.

She will have her book available for sale at the presentation and will offer signing opportunities.

Light Refreshments provided by Ohio University Zanesville's Cultural Committee.
