Our Security Education Week events are designed for industry professionals currently employed at electric utilities in North America. Instructors and course topics reflect the specific needs of the electric sector.
We believe that a community of peers is critical to our mutual success in securing critical systems. To support that, Education Weeks include a variety of networking events designed to build relationships within the industry and strengthen the community of cybersecurity professionals in our sector.
Attendees of this event will:

- Expand their relationships with other security professionals working at utilities throughout North America.
The Austin Education Week will feature two tracks. We will be launching a new version of our popular NERC CIP Bootcamp featuring our new Technical Foundations for NERC CIP course paired with our NERC CIP Deep Dive. Combined, these courses provide a thorough understanding of the standards and the underlying technical concepts necessary to fully grasp the requirements.
The second track, Real-time Defense, will provide hands-on experience in identifying security weaknesses, recognizing attacks, and responding to and investigating security incidents. This track will combine Slade Griffin's popular Introduction to Security Assessments course with a hands-on lab environment utilizing Security Onion, Anomali, and other tools in a "Purple Team" approach. Attendees will gain practical experience with tools and techniques that can be cost-effectively deployed in their organizations.
Hotel accommodations are available at a special rate at the nearby Hyatt Lost Pines Resort. Daily transportation to and from the hotel and McKinney Roughs will be provided. Meals will be provided onsite each day. To the extent practical given COVID-19 restrictions, evening social events may be organized to facilitate relationship building within the industry.
