School Counselor PLC

In an effort to improve professional development for school counselors we are employing several strategies to build the capacity of our counselors to meet the varied needs of our students. Because of the success of the principal study councils coordinated by CORE regions, we are going to pilot a similar endeavor for our counselors. Our Upper Cumberland region is developing a counselor collaborative to facilitate networking and professional learning opportunities for the counselors serving the students in Upper Cumberland Tennessee. We invite all school counselors in our region to join us on Thursday,November 10 from 8:30-11:30 at the CORE office (242 East 10th Street.) Coordinator of School Counseling, Leigh Bagwell, will share the revised school counseling student standards and model of practice. Counselors will work together to begin to identify best practices for meeting them. We will also begin discussing next steps for the counselor collaborative.
