- Take into account the risks
- Make a communication plan
- Project resources can be effectively allocated
- Monitor and update the job schedule
The Work Breakdown Scheme (WBS).
This session will explain to Participants what a Work Breakdown structure is, its function, the numbering options and how to create one. Participants will create their own WBS to take on a camping trip.
Estimating Activity Durations
Participants will then be given suggestions as to how they can best estimate the distance between each task and project.
Camping Case Study
Participants will perform job estimations for their camping trip venture in this session.
Identifying Task Requirements
Participants will be taught the key terms and four types of dependencies in this session. To give participants a hands-on experience, they will be required to complete two exercises.
Aligning resources with activities
Next, participants will be taught about tools, resource breakdown structures, resource scheduling and resource leveling. The participants will then be required to complete a case study.
Project Planning
Participants will be able to create network diagrams using the Critical Path Method and Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT) and Gantt charts. To create a network diagram, participants will need to go through the entire Critical Path Method.
Scheduling software
Participants will learn about the benefits and pitfalls associated with project management software.
Uncertainty and Risk Management
No matter how we choose to approach it, every project is a risk. Participants will learn some techniques to reduce risk.
Communication Strategies
Participants will learn the four essential elements of communication and create a framework to communicate with other members of their project teams. Participants will also be required to complete a communication plan.
Creating an Viable Schedule
This section will bring together all the topics from the previous sections to create a schedule. Participants will also come up with solutions to common scheduling problems.
Tracking and Updating the Schedule
Participants will receive tips for program management to close the program.
Course Wrap Up
Students will be able to ask questions and create an action plan at the end of each module.
