This amazing event kicks off with an evening cruise down the beautiful Tennessee River and continues with four days of shooting, finishing up on the sidelines of Neyland Stadium at the UT vs. U Mass football game!

            4:00 Class meets at the Holiday Inn Knoxville West, introductions

            5:00 Class departs hotel for the Tennessee River and boards houseboat for river tour and dinner

            6:00-9:00 River tour, BBQ dinner and Peter’s presentation 

Thursday-9/21 

            9:00 Class meets, Peter presents on sports photography basics

            10:00 Check out Canon gear

            10:30 Steve Fine presents on his career as Director of Photography at Sports Illustrated

            12:30 Lunch on your own

            2:00 Class heads to campus for swimming portrait and action shoot at UT Aquatic center

            7:00 UT vs. Auburn Women’s Soccer 

Friday-9/22 

            9:00 Peter, Greg and Pat present on workflow and code replacement with Photo Mechanic

            10:00 Critique swimming and soccer photos (each student turns in 10 photos from each event)

            11:30 Kyle Zedaker-UT Photographer presents on shooting for a major college athletic department

            12:30 Lunch on your own 

1:30 Class heads to Maryville College

2:00 Patrick Murphy-Racey presents on location lighting with Dynalite Bajas followed by portrait session with Maryville College baseball and softball players

7:00 Knoxville Catholic vs. Brentwood Academy High School Football 

Saturday-9/23

UT vs. U Mass football.  Since the game time is yet to be announced, the schedule for this day will be determined when it is.  If the game is early (12:00 noon), as I think it will be, we will head straight to the game and then do our critiques after the game in the evening.  If the game is in the evening we will do the reverse. 

Sunday-9/24 (Class taught by Pat Murphy-Racey and Greg Cooper)           

            10:00-1:00 Class wrap-up, return Canon gear

There is a Women’s Volleyball on campus at 1:30. Students will be credentialed, if they chose to stay around.  I will be happy to critique by email or Skype.

 

Portfolio Reviews-Steve, Pat, Greg and myself will be available to look at portfolios.  Scheduling will be done at the workshop.

                       

 

 

 

 

Cancellation policy

Cancellation for a full refund must be requested 30 days prior to the start of the workshop.

Full tuition is due fifteen days before the workshop is scheduled to begin and is non-refundable after that date.

In the event of cancellation of the workshop all deposits and tuitions will be refunded or credited towards a future workshop.

Peter Read Miller has been photographing athletes, events and the sporting life for more than 40 years. He has worked as a staff and contract photographer for Sports Illustrated for more than 35 years and his images have appeared on over 100 Sports Illustrated covers. His editorial clients have included: Time, Life, People, Money, Playboy, Runner’s World, Newsweek, USA Weekend and The New York Times. In addition to covering nine Olympic Games and 39 Super Bowls, Peter has shot 14 NBA Finals. He has covered the Stanley Cup Finals, the World Series, the Kentucky Derby, the NCAA Basketball Final Four, and the Men’s and Women’s World Cup Soccer Finals. Peter teaches yearly sports photography workshops every spring in Denver, CO and fall in Atlanta, GA. He has also taught at the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops and The Rocky Mountain School of Photography. Peter has spoken at the Los Angeles Chapter of the Advertising Photographers of America, Photoshop World, Imaging USA, CES and PDN’s Photo Plus East. He has also lectured at numerous colleges, universities and professional photographic organizations. He and his work has been the subject of articles in Photo District News, American Photographer, Digital Photo Pro, Rangefinder Magazine and Shutterbug. He has been featured on numerous photography and technology websites including: Wired.com, USA Today.com, Photo.net and PetaPixel.
