Building on the fantastic classes Ralf taught last year and at the Connections Festival, we have invited him for a whole weekend this autumn!

Contact Improvisation is a movement form that explores different types of movement while in physical contact with another. It is playful, liberating, often intimate and a physical workout.

Ralf teaches with a rare balance of skills – building trust and sensitivity within the group, breaking down the process so that it is accessible to all, and varying the intensity, momentum and energy levels required throughout the class to keep people engaged.

What people have said about Ralf’s classes:

"It was a really lovely, inspiring day and has left me wanting more."

“A thoughtful and sensitive teacher – everyone seemed to get something from the class.”

“Really fun and playful. I found myself doing things I didn't know were possible! Thank you.”

“By the end of the class the disparate group that started the class was moving as one – it felt very special, even spiritual, to be honest.”

These classes are open to everyone whatever your size, shape, capabilities or fitness level. If you have limited physical abilities not all aspects of the day may be suitable for you – you are welcome to join in as much or as little as you can. This class does not involve nudity.

Please wear loose clothes, several layers are best. We are dancing on a sprung floor in a beautiful, purpose-built dance studio – no shoes allowed.

Please bring a bottle of water. We’ll break for lunch mid-way through the day – please bring light food to share – paper plates provided.

Ralf Jaroschinski was born in Germany, grew up in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and trained as a professional dancer in Europe and New York, USA. With over 30 years’ experience in diverse styles (classical, folk, modern, postmodern etc.), Ralf directed the dance company of the German Hildesheim City Theater and choreographed for dance companies in Europe, the Americas and Asia.

Ralf began dancing contact improvisation over 20 years ago, and during the past 15 years he has taught it throughout the Americas, Europe, Asia and Australia. In 2009, he began developing and facilitating "Sensual Contact Improvisation for Men" in San Francisco and Oakland, USA, which has since then evolved in his classes and workshops in Lima (Peru), Amsterdam (Netherlands), at the „Stretch“-festivals in Berlin, Germany, and at “Touch & Play” in Cardona, Spain.
