SWEET THUNDER will perform the great dance tunes of the 1920s and 1930s, epitomised by the iconic music created by Duke Ellington and His Famous Orchestra during their long association with the famous New York night club, The Cotton Club. Other artists from that era include Benny Goodman, Cab Calloway and Chick Webb and they are all represented in this show. The music is perfect for dancers who like the popular dances of the day such as the Charleston, the Jitterbug and the Lindy Hop.

SWEET THUNDER, with ten accomplished soloists, three vocalists and a substantial list of arrangements, all carefully crafted for the specific personnel of the band, presents a varied and exciting program of the music of the Cotton Club era. The show includes "Cotton Club Stomp", "Minnie the Moocher", "East St Louis Toodle-oo", "It Don't Mean a Thing (if it ain't got that swing)", "Harlem Speaks", "Doin' the Voom Voom" and many more.
