This event is hosted by the Union County Unit.

New to a Unit event? NASW-NJ has 12 volunteer-led, county-based Units that hold regional events around the state of New Jersey for members in that area. (However due to the public health emergency, Unit events will be held virtually until further notice!) These events are planned and coordinated by an appointed volunteer Chair and Co-Chair, as well as a Regional Representative from NASW-NJ’s Board of Directors. The Union County Unit Chair is Hannah Korn-Heilner, MSW (hrk29@scarletmail.rutgers.edu), and the Northeastern Regional Representative is Sierra Spriggs, LSW (sms2384@columbia.edu)

Unit events are a fun, informative way to grow your network near your home or workplace. These events are one of the many benefits of NASW-NJ membership, but we do invite all mental health professional to join us at this meeting. Learn more about our Units here.

Recent Traumatic Events Protocol (R-TEP)

Date: Wednesday, October 21st from 7:00-8:00pm

Zoom login information will be emailed to you once you register.

Presenter: Sarah Mandel, RN, LCSW

Event Description: For this month's Union Unit virtual meeting, we will be joined by Sarah Mandel, RN, LCSW, who will present on the Recent Traumatic Events Protocol. R-TEP is a comprehensive therapeutic intervention that incorporates early EMDR intervention (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) reducing sensitization and accumulation of traumatic memories while maintaining client stability and safety. Providing early intervention to the client, before consolidation of the memory has taken place, can help to influence adaptive integration, promote positive coping, and contribute to the development of resilience towards healing.

With the COVID-19 pandemic and current social unrest, many clients may have experienced a recent traumatic event. Join us to learn about the Recent Traumatic Events Protocol and how to support clients who have experienced trauma.
