This course provides insight into real-world applications of the FBI CJIS Security Policy, to include the following topics:

  • Agreements
  • Physical Security
  • Encryption
  • Two-Factor Authentication
  • and more

 


This course is designed for the agency CCIC Coordinator; more in-depth training for IT Professionals may be offered at a later time.

Prerequisites: None.

Trainer: Emily Philip

Students will attend a 2-hour class on these topics, after which they will be directed to take a 10-question exam to complete within two weeks. After the successful completion of the exam, the student will be issued a certificate of completion.

Course materials:  Materials will be posted to CJIS Portal closer to when the class is held, and all enrolled students will be notified.  

Instructor Bio:

Emily Philip began her law enforcement career during college, working part time in Records at the University of Colorado at Boulder Police Department. Since her start at the Colorado Bureau of Investigation in 2007, Emily has been a Data Integrity Specialist, a Fingerprint Examiner, and nis now the CCIC/NCIC supervisor of the Crime Information Management Unit. In addition to this, Emily serves the Bureau as lead of the Tech Team, a new initiative providing onsite technical, audiovisual, and information management support to investigators and forensice technicians during critical incidents.

Emily seeks to find optimal ways to provide awareness of criminal justice information security standards to agencies throughout Colorado, and is working to develop a full online course catalog to support CCIC users.

In her personal life, Emily enjoys video games, spending time outdoors, and singing. She frequently performs the National Anthem for various law enforcement events.
