Join us for an important seminar on increasing social skills through behavior management strategies for students with Down syndrome.

Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 8:30 AM-11:30 AM
DSG Office: 5960 Dearborn St. Suite #100 Mission, KS 66202

Language delays are one of the most important challenges that  students with DS face.  Down Syndrome Education International’s Reading and Language Intervention (RLI) was designed to address these specific learning challenges.  RLI works as a great  compliment to regular literacy instruction.  This seminar is designed to introduce the main components of the intervention, as well as organize resources and deliver instruction. RLI is an ideal way to overlap reading instruction and speech and language therapy. Topics covered include:

  • Letter sound knowledge and phoneme awareness
  • Sight word learning in context of book reading
  • Teaching vocabulary through visual approaches
  • Reading comprehension
  • Strategies to enhance speaking and writing using newly taught and learned vocabulary

Breakfast provided. No childcare will be available for this event.
