When we are working with certain communities, we need to be creative in the way we approach prevention efforts.  Whether the community is hard to reach due to geography, culture or capacity, the prevention worker will need to identify who to engage and how.  We will discuss creative ways to reach those populations and enhance their prevention efforts as well as how to modify our approach based on the community. 

Objectives of the Workshop:

  • Define hard to reach populations and complete a resource assessment to engage the community gatekeepers
  • Gauge readiness in hard to reach communities
  • Learn how to teach prevention basics to overcome barriers and with language fit for the community  

Bonus:  Trainer will do a SPF Overview - A planning process for prevention.
