Update: The First Day Conference will be entirely synchronous, in real-time, based on Indianapolis (Eastern) time.
The Religious Communication Association (RCA) hosts its annual “First Day Conference” in a virtual format on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, one day prior to the NCA convention’s official start. The all-day Wednesday event signals the beginning of RCA proceedings that continue throughout the NCA conference with panels and meetings scheduled for the following Thursday through Sunday. Wednesday’s sessions will run from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Eastern (Indianapolis) time.
The event, originally conceived of as an on-site event in Indianapolis, was reimagined by the RCA’s Executive Council in light of the coronavirus pandemic and associated, on-going travel restrictions. Biola University will serve as the conference Zoom host in November. RCA President Joy Qualls, initiated this relationship in her role as Biola’s Associate Dean, Division of Communication, School of Fine Arts and Communication. The Association expresses gratitude of this significant institutional support of the private, La Mirada, California-based University.
RCA’s First Day conference on Wednesday requires a membership fee and registration. All conference participants and attendees are required to be members of RCA. In addition to Membership, Registration is required for the Wednesday event. No additional fee is attached to registration in 2020.
