This integrated carer training uses a blended learning approach, this includes workshops, learner support workbooks, options to access additional content through a user friendly Learning Management System, in addition participants have access to an online community where they can interact with other students and tutors.
Our experiential approach to teaching really comes to life on this course. Carers will learn the how to support their own mental and physical health through a range of classroom and online activities.
Understanding and Caring for the Older Person effectively and emphatically. Understanding age related illness and the importance of hydration and nutrition in caring for an older person. Communication as a carer, as part of a team and within families. Safeguarding the Older person, dementia awareness and end of life care are all part of this module.
Acquiring practical skills for care to include a wide range of practical tasks, dressing and grooming, oral care, stoma care and maintaining a safe hygienic environment to support care. Attending to the psycho-social and spiritual needs of people who utilise services.

Monday, 15th May (10 AM – 5pm) (Attend for 1 hour assessment)
This blended learning approach is multi-faceted. Carers have an opportunity to develop their practical and reflective skills in classroom. Further theoretical training takes place online through tutor interaction in the online community, videos and reflective opportunities. Access to the Learner Management System will continue until April 30th. Carers will submit their assignments for these modules on that date.
