Dear All,

IStructE UAE Regional Group Committee is inviting you to a talk (hybrid) by Hussein Saqf Elhait, Director of Structures, Ramboll on the topic “Pushing the limits of Modular Construction in high-rise buildings as a sustainable, path-breaking solution”.

The Middle East currently has the most construction activity in the world. Even though the region has a reputation for fast-tracking projects, less than 1% of high-rise buildings have been built using Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMa) technologies, including Prefabricated Pre¬finished Volumetric Construction (PPVC) technologies. The Middle East has a tremendous opportunity to embrace new ways of building high-rise buildings and embrace the many benefits that come with modern modular construction.

As a partner for sustainable change, Ramboll is currently involved in exciting PPVC projects across the world, including the United Kingdom, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and most recently in the UAE. We work closely with the world’s most innovative manufacturers to develop new prefabrication methodologies and systems and are keen to have this technology widely available in the Middle East.

Considering the accelerated efforts taken on ground for the introduction of PPVC to the Middle East market, we’re looking at the dawn of a new era in construction in the region. It’s a chance for all countries in the Middle East to lead in sustainable construction and realise the many long-term benefits of this kind of construction. The opportunities are vast and Ramboll is ready to help lead the way for sustainable change.

If you’d like to know more about PPVC modular construction and how it can improve sustainability, decrease construction time, and increase the quality of your next project, get in touch with Ramboll. We are leading the way with PPVC technologies in the Middle East.

This is a hybrid event that will be held at Heriot Watt University, Dubai with streaming on Zoom and Youtube.

The event will be followed by a networking session giving an opportunity to meet other professionals from the industry including IStructE committee members who will be glad to answer any questions you have. Refreshments will be provided.

Hussein Saqf Elhait is a Chartered Engineer with over 2 decades of experience in the field of Structural Engineering and is currently leading the Structural Department for Ramboll in the Middle East where he has built a strong, diverse, engaged, and motivated team of structural engineering experts.

Hussein believes in design excellence, focusing on high standards, health and safety, and digitising of the construction industry through new modern methods of constructions. Hussein is keen to present Modular Construction key advantages over more traditional on-site techniques that has been introduced to construction markets across the globe very successfully.

Hussein is a champion for generating that shift toward modular construction being considered a viable structural option for large high rise buildings developments, he is very keen to change the preconceived views about PPVC for high rise buildings from resistance to an opportunity to innovate, accordingly, he is very active in the region pursuing PPVC opportunities in the Middle East. He believes that an essential step to widespread acceptance of these new technologies is collaboration with key partners – developers, contractors and municipalities. Joint venture projects with developers and contractors ensure the PPVC projects are developed in cooperation to ensure technical approvals happen more quickly, especially in terms of structural stability, fire, and other health and safety issues.

The best way to mitigate risks and increase the benefits of high-rise construction is by taking a unified approach to PPVC. Trusted partners coordinating their efforts, working in collaboration and presenting a unified front give municipalities peace of mind about adapting new technologies. This allows the joint venture project to engage the municipality early in the process and include them throughout the design process, which leads to a smoother and faster review and in-principal approvals for this technology in Dubai. If you are interested to know more, join the conversation with Hussein in this CPD talk!
