- Review the concepts of basic microbiology
- Familiarize you with the types of organisms frequently encountered in the healthcare environment
- Ability to understand pathogens and their interrelationships will help on the journey to prevent the spread of infection
- Understand key traits of these organisms, distinguishing them into buckets of viruses, bacteria, fungi and spores.
- Outline the sensitivity of these various buckets of organisms to disinfectants, enabling you to work through the maze of disinfectant claims to determine the right level of kill claims for your facility
