Class Fee includes 25 lbs stoneware clay (porcelain may be used for an additional $5) and studio glazes, firings, and use of all tools, and studio equipment. Additional clay is available for purchase. Current prices are listed in the studio.
NOTE: Missed classes due to vacation or illness can be made up during open studio times or by special arrangement with instructors.
PREREQUISTE: Pottery I and Pottery II
About This Class:
Independent Study Pottery III is 9-week studio opportunity for adult students with excellent clay skills, craftsmanship, and technique. Pottery III students work independently, pursuing clay as an art form in the production of both functional and nonfunctional pieces. Students will colaboarte with and encourage one another in their work.
Additional studio times for current pottery students:
Wednesdays 6 – 9 pm
Fridays 12:30 – 3:30 pm
Saturdays 9 am – 12 pm
Other times by arrangement with instructors.
Instructors and/or Teaching Assistants are always available in the studio to help.
ABOUT THE STUDIO:
The Museum Pottery Studio is a well-equipped workspace which includes:
- 12 wheels, 3 large electric kilns, 2 slab rollers, a pugmill for recycling clay, 2 extruders, and industrial air cleaners;
- All basic tools, materials, and supplies for all classes;
- A studio library which offers books, DVDs, magazines and publications.
- Extensive storage and shelving for each student with a designated shelf for her/his on-going work and personal supplies.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS:
Penny Kliner attended the Herron school of Art with a focus in ceramics. She has taught and/or assisted with the AMGL pottery program for the past 5 years and currently coordinates the art museum pottery program.
