This one day workshop is all about getting big bang for your buck in 10 minutes a day. Shared reading and Focus Poetry will give you opportunites to explore language and literature with your whole class. Rhyme, repetition and rhythm are essential to support phonological awareness, phonemic awareness, and fluency in developing readers. We will look at using poems and texts appropriate for shared reading to support not only these aspects of language but also answer the questions of how to embed the teaching of reading strategies that support print work and comprehension as well as exploring the use of grammer, punctuation, poetry elements and literary devices inside of text! Registration fee includes professional text and handout.
