Plano ASG chapter is excited to host our second Share Fair offering a variety of member-led, educational workshops.  This event will be held at Christ United Methodist Church in Plano.

 

Check-in begins at 8:30 AM and classes begin at 9 AM.  Registration includes the sessions and any associated kits (unless otherwise noted) as well as lunch.  Discounted early bird pricing is available until May 21; prices increase afterwards.

Donna Simpson Introduction to English Smocking This session will start with a demo then give each person a chance to try it out on a sample.  Examples will be given on how to put a smocked piece to good use. Hands On 3 Beginner It will include a pleated piece of fabric, a hand-sewing needle, hand-out, & some DMC threads. 

Special Note: Participants will pay instructor an additional $10 for this session.
Lora Simonds Sew Independent Learn about Independent Pattern Companies, Designs, Styles, Pro and Cons, Variety (The Patterns Fabrique carries include Christine Jonson, Colette, Decades of Style, Folkwear, Michie, Pamela’s Patterns, Park Bench, Sew Liberated, Tina Givens).  Lecture with samples and Patterns Available Lecture 1 Beginner Independent Pattern Pop-up Shop will remain open through lunch.
Beverly Vance Fly Front Zippers Learn a simple method for installing a fly-front zipper in pants & skirts. Sewing machine provided. Hands On 1 Beginner Fabric, zipper, fly front stitching guide
Louise Schubert Make It With Wool An info session to answer questions about the state and national requirements for participating in the competition.  We will discuss ways to identify wool content in fabric, the rules, the judging, and garment construction. I’ll provide samples of different types of wool. Lecture 1 All Kit will include handouts of MIWW application and fabric samples. 
Louise Schubert Recycled Neck Ties This class will share ideas for recycling neckties. I’ll bring several examples of items made from ties, and then we will have a hands-on opportunity to make a rose pin. No machine required, hand sewn. Participants should bring at least 1 neck tie. Hands On 2 All Kit will include photos of tie projects.  
Mary Jo Forbes Working With Lapped Seams Forget the facings and lap the seams for an unconstructed coat or jacket.  Come to this session and learn how it's done!  Sewing machine provided. Hands On 2 Beginner The kit will provide an instruction page and boiled wool to work on
Pam Walker and Marie Barrese Deco Foil & Angelina Fibers How to's and ideas using Deco Foil and Angelina Fibers on fabric.  Sample projects for "hands on" practice during this session. No machine required. Hands On 2 All Deco Foil and Angelina Fibers with sample projects
Debby Bowles  Seam rolls – sleeve/pants  Make a seam roll great for pressing seams in sleeves and/or pants.  Bring beige thread.  Sewing Machine provided. Hands On  1 Beginner Kit includes all supplies for project except beige thread (participants bring their own thread)
Jami Roux Triangle Bound Buttonholes Learn how to make a triangle bound buttonhole.  If you can sew a straight line and cut carefully you can make a triangle bound buttonhole.  Participants bring basic sewing kit-thread, scissors, pins, ruler, marking pen or chalk. Sewing machine provided. Hands On 1 All Fabric for project.
Markita Hall-Gumble Show It Off Photography Tips for taking better pictures of you and your garments.  Includes posing, styling, phone and digital camera tips, plus info on free and inexpensive photo apps. Demo 2 All None
Markita Hall-Gumble Make it/Take it Sewing Stein Make It/Take It stein/mug decorated with vinyl.  Will demo use of Silouhette Cutting Machine and compare capabilities of other cutting machines. Hands On 1 All Mug/stein and vinyl transfer
Sheryl Belson Swimsuit Construction Basics Overview of basics to consider when making a swimsuit - fabric selection, fitting the stride, stitching syle, elastic and bra cup insertion. Lecture 1 All Handout
Sheryl Belson Frayed Fabric Embellishments Learn how to fray a loosely woven fabric and couch the fringe into interesting designs.  You will make a coaster to try the technique out.  Bring neutral thread, needle and small scissors. Cancellation policy

All cancellations prior to June 11 will be refunded for the amount paid, less a $5 cancellation fee.  No refunds will be given for cancellations received after June 11, 2016.
