We would like to invite you to an exclusive Chinese Trade Seminar, which the Pet Industry Federation is hosting for our member manufacturers/suppliers on Wednesday 12 September.

There is huge potential for UK pet businesses to export their products to the Chinese pet market. With over 27m pet dogs and 58m pet cats in China, the market is currently worth £15bn and is projected to grow by 50% by 2020. However, the market is notoriously difficult to access without the right help and expertise from within China.

The seminar will be delivered by Lynn Lin, who co-owns PIF’s Chinese export partner, Best for Pets Supply Chain Company Ltd (BPSC). Lynn also has an accountancy practice in London, so she is ideally placed to deliver information and advice to PIF manufacturer/suppliers who are interested in trading with China.

BPSC is a Chinese ‘B2B’ and ‘B2C’ pet product distribution company in Fujian, which is based within the Fuzhou Free Trade Zone. They are currently looking for UK companies they can work with to help them trade successfully with China.

We have met BPSC a number of times and can see that they are keen to secure genuine, long term partnerships with UK companies, to whom they can offer:
1) Distribution of high quality UK products into the Chinese market
2) Sourcing and re-sourcing high quality Chinese suppliers
3) Sourcing partnership manufacturers for food and treats (overcoming many of the legislative barriers to imports containing meat)
The aim of the seminar is to provide you with practical information and advice about the Chinese pet market to help you determine whether this exciting and emerging market is somewhere you wish to consider trading with; or if you are currently trading with Chinese companies, whether you are in the best position you can be.
The seminar will cover areas such as:
• Overview of the Chinese market and its potential
• Pricing structures
• Packaging and labelling
• Brands and marketing
• Overcoming legislative requirements

There will of course be an opportunity for Q&A during the seminar, and over lunch.

This seminar is free for PIF members to attend, and will run from 11.00am – 2.00pm. It is likely to take place at PIF’s Bedford office, although this might change to an alternative nearby location if the level of interest from members is high.
