Understanding and managing children’s anxiety |
Workshop Details |
When our child is suffering from anxiety, it is hard to know what to do as parents. It can be upsetting to witness our children’s distress. As parents, we can lose our confidence around handing situations, as nothing seems to work…at least consistently!! This talk is aimed at providing information and strategies to understand and manage anxiety in order to ‘shrink it down to size’. This will enable children to ‘do life’ without anxiety being in charge of them and what they do. |

Workshop Details |

Qigong is a mind-body exercise that utilises Qi (lifeforce/energy). Whereas its relatives Tai Chi and Kung Fu developed a defence or fighting focus, Qigong has maintained an internal focus, aiming to improve health and ultimately to develop humanity to a higher level. In this workshop, we will explore and experience Qi. Learn about the integral relationship between mind, body and Qi and how to enhance your Qi condition with some simple, practical Qigong exercises. |

Vanessa Lukes
After surgery for cancer at the age of 30, Vanessa took up learning and practising Qigong. Initially, she wondered why she was spending so much time with her eyes closed, waving her arms in the air. The reason soon became clear as she felt her energy levels increase, body strengthen and mind calm. She completed the Yuan Tze Ren Xue Master Teacher and Therapist's training programme in 2007, and since then has been utilising her professional teaching background to teach Qigong and Ren Xue. |

Support your child's healthy emotional expression |
Workshop Details |
What did you learn about emotions and feelings as you were growing up? How in touch with your emotional self are you? How might this influence what your child/ren learn about emotions? Children come into the world naturally open and vulnerable to the environments they grow up in. During these formative years, they develop an understanding of which emotions are viewed as being OK and permissible and which are not. They learn what they should or shouldn't do with their anger, their sadness, their fear or even with their joy. The more open and aware we are to our own feelings, as adults, the more we are able to guide and support children to develop a healthy relationship with emotions – theirs and others. Come and learn how your emotional presence can support your child to grow healthy emotional self-awareness and expression. |
