2014A - Large Boardroom, Queen Margaret University, Musselburgh, East Lothian, EH21 6UU, United Kingdom.

As PebblePad has matured and tools have evolved we are increasingly finding that they are central to overcoming a variety of challenges faced by universities and to enhancing teaching and learning strategies more broadly.   In the UK, Australia and the US PebblePad practice is increasingly evident in support of the full student life cycle – preparation; application; orientation; core curricular; work-based learning; extra-curricular; research; HEAR (Higher Education Achievement Report, UK); transition to employment; and re-validation.  The ‘portfolio’ is an essential component of the broader Personal Learning Platform which supports the student throughout their learning journey and provides them with the tools to make sense of all aspects of their learning experience.  Workbooks are increasing used to scaffold learning journeys and experiences.  We would like to share some of the ways PebblePad is used in the UK and across the globe.

http://www.qmu.ac.uk/cap/

The Centre for Academic Practice has an important role in the development and support of all those who teach and study at QMU. Our remit is a broad one; we work at all levels of the institution to assure our students receive the best possible learning opportunities. We contribute to policy and strategic planning, collaborate with all departments and units, and provide professional development for staff and post-graduate students in all aspects of learning and teaching and assessment.
