Drumming provides us with a powerful way to connect with others. Now that doing so in person is potentially dangerous, and in many places, illegal, the internet provides us with a place to do so safely, with no side effects!
I have been facilitating HealthRHYTHMS and Rhythm to Recovery drum circles for health and wellness for nearly 15 years. They are proven to significantly lower stress hormones, and provide a strong boost to the immune system.
Come and connect in community. Come and relax and unwind. come and express yourself, and be heard in safe and fun environment.
For the last few months we have been experimenting with drumming online, having fun and connecting over the Zoom platform. We've ironed out a few audio issues, and have come up with some games and activities to make the online drumming experience more fulfilling.
If you can join us, this is how you can prepare:
* If you don't have it already, download the Zoom app to your computer (from Zoom.us) or smartphone (App Store, Google Play). PLEASE NOTE: This App is FREE.
* Log into the zoom meeting a few minutes before 8 pm (Eastern) to test your audio and video, and optimize your audio settings (I will show you) for sharing music in Zoom.
* When you join a meeting:
--- it asks you to share your name - Please share your first name and where you are calling in from - if you’re in Toronto, let us know what part of the city you’re in.
--- when you join and it asks how you want to connect audio--> Choose through internet audio.
* Bring your favourite drum, percussion instrument, bucket & chopsticks, or a MUSICAL INSTRUMENT if you want to play along to the grooves.
* Use found sounds if you don't have a drum, shaker or musical instruments. See video in the discussion below for some examples.
* Cost: $10 for kids & older adults 65+, $20 for adults. E-transfers can be sent to rufusglassco@gmail.com without a fee from Canadian bank accounts, or funds can also be sent through PayPal: paypal.me/RufusGlassco
